Elie Saab Haute Couture SS23

Today was Elie Saab Haute Couture Spring Summer 2023 shown, which is undoubtedly one of my most expected moment of the year. Elie Saab has been one of my most loyal clients and I've been shooting all of their Couture and Ready-to-Wear shows since 2016.

Couture Spring/Summer is always my favorite collection, and such a great way to kick off a new year. This year, Mr Saab surpassed him again and the collection just is from another world. Shooting such beauty just leaves me in awe and I hope you'll like these as much as I have taken pleasure shooting them.

Autumn vibes in Provence

As Christmas vibes are kicking in, this is a late post to share some Autumn inspiration in our Provence home. As some of you know, this house has become our haven to regroup, ressource and rejuvenate in-between some intense work weeks/months in Paris. We just like to get out of the city and enjoy the calm and quietness of this place and its surroundings.

This is a postcard of a family holiday we spent there between Halloween and Thanksgiving. Our friend and floral designer Perrine (Miss Rose by Perrine) surprised us with this Fall decor, composed of pumpkins and orange/red florals, that all were a delight for the eyes. We enjoyed some fried mushrooms with white wine and played board games with the kids.

A Tour of our Farm House in Provence

A Tour of our Farm House in Provence

As some of you guys may already know, Rime and I took the advantage of some down time during Covid to renovate a 19th century farm house in Provence. It's been a 12 months project with blood, sweat and tears, but renovation came to an end just before July for us to enjoy a perfect Provence summer with Juliette, Andrea, Vesper (our cat) and Charlie, a baby cocker spaniel who has been the latest addition to our family.

We renovated everything from the ground up, opened walls to create massive window panes, renovated the floors, walls, the roof, turned a garage into a work studio, knocked down walls, built a deck around the pool, created a 400 meters to limit the property, created a 200 square meter terrace on the Northern side and finished with the landscaping of the property. We imagined and designed everything ourselves without the help of an architect and sourced every piece of furniture by ourselves. Here is a tour of our new haven.

A Floral Explosion in Lake Como

Last October, I had the pleasure and honor to photograph my friend Tulipina's Workshop in Lake Como, Italy. I have always been stunned by Kiana's creativity with flowers, and her unique style. Seeing her bring so much delicacy and beauty through her talent, truly is a piece of art.

The workshop was held during 2 days on the shores of the Lake, and it was the occasion for a few to learn from her. On a side note, Kiana and her husband Nate had the courage to fly from the US to teach this workshop - in the middle of the pandemic and in between two restriction sets in Italy - and this was such a breathe of fresh air for me and my creativity. Thank you Kiana and Nate for this!

A Winter in Lapland

For my 40th birthday, my love Rime Arodaky made me the surprise of a lifetime by taking us to a trip in Lapland, Finland. It had been one my bucket list since forever, both for the Nordic experience, and the photography trip. It didn't disappoint. We had the best week over there, experiencing dog-sledding, snowmobile and of course the unforgettable Aurora Borealis (Nothern lights) chase, that we were lucky enough to experience.

It was definitely the experience of a lifetime and I will cherish these photos forever in our family heirloom. Some limited edition prints to come soon as well! Stay tuned!

This post is very emotional for me and I had to close the year of 2020 this. I have met Kety & Eric, the owners of Les Domaines de Patras, back in 2015 when I was venue hunting for my very first photography workshop in Provence. Kety&Eric were introduced to me by Clémentine, from Le Blog de Madame C. , and we instantly clicked. Les Domaines de Patras is a luxury wedding venue - in the heart of Provence - and truly is a piece of heaven.

Across the year, our friendship grew, to the point where Kety became my son Andrea's godmother, we spent 2 montgs of confinement on the property, and finally ended up buying a house just next door of the Domain. Today, Les Domaines de Patras is launching their brand new website and identity and I can only suggest you to go take a look!

Rime Arodaky at Home Experience

As we all need to adapt to the new world of pandemic and recurring lockdown, my talented wife bridal designer Rime Arodaky came up with a new bright idea and is now launching Rime Arodaky at Home Experience. The objective of it is to have you be able to pick your wedding dress, with the online recommendations of Rime. Rime will call you through a videocall and will present you the latest collection and the Maison's Iconics. You will identify a couple of dresses that you love the most, and these will be tried by a model having your body's specs. After that, Rime will ship you a box with your favorites at home, and will call you again so that you can do a fitting together. I documented hereunder photographs to help communicate this bright idea in the time of a pandemic.

A Summer in Tuscany

One of the perks of this very bizarre 2020 year, is that we got to spend more time as a family. Hence, this is the first time ever that we allowed ourselves to take a four-weeks family break as a family of four. Not being able to fly, we decided to take our car and hit the road for a family trip in Italy.

This is the first leg of our trip in Tuscany. We stayed 10 days around Montalcino, and rented a beautiful house with my brother and his wife. We had the opportunity to spend a couple of marvellous days at the stunning Locanda in Tuscany, and of course treat ourselves with amazing Tuscan food and wine. The Puglia leg of our trip will be shared here soon.

Rime Arodaky Collection 021

Let's born and rise again my dear Earth child. Born again to follow Gaïa. Follow in your mother's way. And she will take you higher. She'll take you to another place. High above this world of ours. She will show you many things including all of her powers. She has the power to destroy and the power to renew. So follow in the mother's way. Do what she tells you to. She, who radiates the light. She, who dances with the spirit of the sun, loves with the strenght of wild water;, moves with the moods of the moon, and creates with the wills of the wind.

Magnetic. Magic. She is a goddess.

This is Rime Arodaky 021 Collection.

I photographed Alexandra & Justin's engagement session in Manhattan back in the Spring of 2018. It was my first time meeting one of my favorite couples ever, who would later be getting married at the glorious Villa d'Este in Lake Como, Italy (see it here). It would be an understatement to say that Alexandra and Justin just look gorgeous and are glowing during this session.

We met at Dominique Bistro, my favorite French restautant in the Village, before stopping at Gay St for some portraits in front of the beautiful town houses. We then headed to Central Park for a walk in front of the blooming cherry trees. Engagement sessions in New York City are just my favorites and I can't wait to hop in a plane again!

A Fall Wedding in Baltimore

Richelle & Sam met in Boston in 1996. They dated for about 9 months, before breaking up for 12-plus years. But they found their way back to each other in the end: "We got back together and have been together ever since." Richelle & Sam's wedding in Baltimore was one of my favorite weddings from last year. They got married at the Union Baptist Church, which is Richelle's family church, before hosting a party at the Four Seasons Baltimore, and it was definitely a party of the books!

Jeannette Tavares, from Evoke Design & Creative - who also happens to be a great friend of mine - perfectly planned this event with her team. The design was mastered by Birch Events, with a speak-easy jazz club inspiration that perfectly matched the venue vibes and season.

We started this perfect September weekend by a portrait session on a Riva boat that took us in the middle of the lake. This was immediately followed by Alexandra & Justin's welcome event, on a cruise that took us along the shores of Lake Como. The wedding day itself was nothing but amazing with a stunning bespoke Michael Kors' dress, stuning florals by Rattiflora, and the most beautiful firework above the lake.

Some of them have shot the most exclusive celebrity weddings; others are the go-tos for the It-girl and fashion set. Many of these talents have captured events all over the world—some approaching their work with a documentarian's eye, while others are all about sheer romance. Glamping is where stunning nature meets modern luxury. It's a way to experience the untamed and completely unique parts of the world—without having to sacrifice creature comforts. Camargue is one of France's most hidden jewel! Located in the South East of France, between Marseille and Montpellier, it offers a unique backdrop of seaside landscapes, where wild horses run in full freedom.

That's the backdrop we had chosen for this editorial that we shot a year ago. Planned and designed by Lavender&Rose Weddings, we wanted to put the highlight on that region, that is often in the shadow of Provence and the French Riviera. We were inspired by a free-spirit/boho mindset, still with a touch of luxury and glam.

A portrait session in the African bush

This is a portrait session of my love Rime Arodaky during our trip to South Africa last March. We both have a strong love for Africa and wildlife and doing a game drive in the Kruger National Park was on our bucket list. We organized that trip a couple months after having our baby Andrea, so as to regenerate and enjoy a couple's holiday.

This is my favorite selection of the images that I brought back from the bush leg of our trip. Please note that the photos where you can see Rime walking in the bush were shot in safe areas, surrounded by Park rangers. For your safety and the safety of the animals, please don't walk in the bush by yourself.

A Green&White Fall Wedding in Budapest

Diana and Alex met as Diana was living in China and Alex in Hong Kong. Even though they didn't want a long-distance relationship, they knew they were meant for each other. Diana (a wedding planner) was actually the one to plan the proposal. They flew to Chengdu, in Sichuan, where the biggest panda research center is based, hence the theme of the wedding.

Diana and Alex organized their destination wedding on November 13th 2017. Ninety loved ones gathered for a multi-day vacation in Budapest, Hungary. They took this opportunity to host a fice-day cruise on the Danube River and spend some quality time with their guests and family. The wedding itself - on land at Fisherman's Bastion - celebrated the bride's favorite animal and was perfectly styled and designed by Joy Proctor in an elegant white and green color palette.

A Floral Wonderland Wedding in Thailand

On February 10, 2018, Nadear & Andres invited sixty guests for an epic, two-part event in Phuket, Thailand. First, they had a morning ceremony to celebrate the bride's Thai heritage. Secondly, they planned an afternoon (and evening!) of events that included a Western wedding ceremony, beachside cocktails, and dinner and dancing in a ballroom transformed to look like a floral wonderland.

In fact, the whole theme of the weekend was to transform the five-star beach resort into a dreamy enchanted garden, what was wonderfully achieved by The Wedding Bliss Thailand. Ronan Keating sang his hit "When You Say Nothing At All" (from the Notting Hill movie) for the couple's ceremony entrance; and the newlyweds cut into a nine-tiered wedding cake!

Two months ago, we decided to spend a weekend in Santorini with my love Rime Arodaky and our 6 months old son Andrea. It was Andrea's first trip and we spent 3 days enjoying the amazing Santorini sunsets, wine and food.

Born from the lasting impressions of a journey through the artful city of Barcelona, Elie Saab presents the Haute Couture Autumn/Winter 2018-2019 collection 'Of Forms and Light' at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs, an emotionally meaningful venue, as it hosted the Maison's very first Haute Couture show in Paris.

Stemming from the influence of Gaudi's architectural study and his masterpiece Casa Mila - 'La Pedrera', the relationship between light, natural forms and structures becomes a major inspiration in the designer's creations.

Moroccan-inspired Editorial in Greece

You've probably already spied gorgeous Moroccan wedding blankets. You know, the ones with the cream and taupe shaggy fringe and the silvery sequins? Otherwise known as handira, these blankets are a window into the traditional Berber culture of Morocco. They are crafted in anticipation of a wedding as a sort of send-off present. It comes as no surprise that their aesthetic appeal has been woven in to many bohemian and luxurious designs.

Utilizing these Moroccan wedding blankets as a neutral, yet glamorous jumping off point, The Twelve Events styled this beautiful wedding editorial that we shot on the Athenian Riviera last Spring. All of the handiras used in this editorial are unique and handmade in Morocco.

"We were looking at the notion of transformation – the idea that a woman might not want just one look at their wedding and they don't have time to change. So think of a short skirt getting an overskirt that wraps around to create a gown or a sleeves that come off" said Craig.

Hedsor House is indeed the location where they shot most of the scenes of the tv show Downtown Abbey. So Caitlin&Patrick kept everything very elegant and classic. My America

People who know me know that I love America. I lived there twelve years ago, and I'll be living there again one day. I love the United-States in every possible way. I love its people, its diversity, its nature and landscapes, and above all its positive mindset that makes you think that everything is possible.

America truly is the land of opportunity and America's beauty truly resides in its diversity. So, as the US face a historical choice today, I just wanted to share my vision of America through some photographs. I won't express my opinion or party preference here, as every single line that I've read on that topic have just led to anger or division. That choice is for the Americans to make. My only hope though, is that this choice won't lead to more division and growing inequalities. I realize my view of America can seem biased or simplistic, and daily life for many Americans is very different from these photographs. That said, that is the vision of America I wanted to share on that historical day. Hoping that America will get out of this election more united than it was yesterday, whatever the result might be.

A week ago, I had the great honor to be invited to the New York City Fall Bridal Week by the editorial team of Style Me Pretty. I joined Stephanie, Elizabeth and Abigail in the City, and followed them on designers runway shows and collections presentation during 3 days.

This is a behind the scene of this beautiful week, with backstages photos from the collections of Amsale, Jenny Yoo, Pronovias & Samuelle Couture.

A Portrait Session in Puglia

This is a preview of my travel journal in Puglia, at the end of August. This region, located in the very South of Italy, is so rich in terms of outdoor beauty, fantastic food and wine ! Landscapes are breathtaking and you can't really say if you're in the middle of the African savannah, in Mexico or Italy!

We spent two weeks of holidays there last summer, with my love Rime Arodaky. This is a portrait of her, with an amazing sunset light.

A Pink Wedding in Upstate New York

Sydney and Brian both live in New York City but have spent most of their kids' holidays around Skaneateles Lake, in upstate New York. That is all naturally that they had decided to organize their wedding around the Lake . An elegant and beautiful wedding day, and so much joy and happiness despite a moody weather.

Sydney is truly one of the most luminous bride I've got to shoot this year and I feel so blessed to have flown all the way from Paris for this beautiful day !

A Palace Destination Wedding in Lisbon

A Palace Destination Wedding in Lisbon

Sofia and James, both living in London, decided to have a destination wedding in Lisbon, Portugal. As Sofia's heritage is part Portuguese, it was a natural decision. They immediately fell in love with Palacio da Sao Vicente de Fora, in the heart of Lisbon. From the outside, it is a vey unassuming location, and guests are wowed once they entered the gardens and walk into the ceremony area.

Azulejos are everywhere in this 1606-built palace, and it was like having an art gallery on all the walls. This perfect day was designed and planned by The Wedding Co., a team of such talented and kind women.

A Blue Portrait Session in Formentera

Formentera is a preserved gem in the middle of the Mediterranean sea. The island has nothing to envy to Ibiza, her big daughter, which lies just some kilometers away. Formentera has kept that easy lifestyle and – amazingly enough – has been preserved from mass tourisms so far.

This is the perfect getaway for a weekend to chill and enjoy the pristine beaches and deep blue ocean. This is a portrait session that has been realized at golden hour, with a very nice blue color palette, symbol of the island.

Rime Arodaky Bridal 015

This is Rime Arodaky's SS015 Bridal Collection. This collection is mainly composed of short dresses for civil ceremonies, inspired by the Parisian lifestyle, and made of refined fabrics and laces produced in France. We shot that collection in a natural-light studio in Le Marais, Paris, and the campaign was totally shot on film. This is one of my very first collaboration with Rime Arodaky, and I am still in awe with the result.

A Provence Wedding in a French Chateau

A Provence Wedding in a French Chateau

It's quite difficult to attend to the wedding of an English and a German during the football Worldcup. England had just been beaten by Uruguay, and Germany was heading to being the next World champion. Nicky and Daniel are a wonderful couple from London, who had chosen sunny Provence to tie the knot.

A fabulous day at Château Grimaldi, perfectly designed by the superstars of Lavender&Rose, with beautiful flowers from Wayne Riley. Thank you so much to Gert Huygaerts, who made the trip from Belgium to assist me the whole day and whose some pictures are here below.

A Glamorous French Riviera Wedding

Saint-Jean Cap Ferrat is the perfect location to tie the knot on the French Riviera. Ideally located between Nice and Monaco, this small peninsula just calls for summer laziness, turquoise seas, and easy breeze lifestyle. That's the location which was chosen by Maryam and David, for their glamorous and chic wedding.

A fabulous day designed by the still awesome girls from Lavender&Rose, in the splendid venue La Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild. I had the pleasure to be assisted by Ingrid Lepan on this wedding, whose some images are included here below.

Rome

Rome is the perfect getaway for a weekend with one's partner. Beauty is at every corner. Tasting the best expresso in the world at Sant Eustachio Café, shopping along Via del Corso, having a Spritz in Trastevere, without missing the monuments such as Fontana de Trevi or the Colosseum. This is a postcard from 3 days spent in this special city a few weeks ago. Eat. Pray. Love

A Cherry Blossom Engagement in Paris

A Cherry Blossom Engagement in Paris

Candice comes from Hawaï and Pierre from Lyon. They met in Paris as Candice is a fashion hairdresser in the City. As Candice has a cherry tree branch tattooed on her forearm, it was important to me to capture their engagement session in the beginning of Spring time in Paris, when the cherry trees surrounding the Eiffel Tower start blooming. I can't wait for these two's wedding in May in the vineyards near Lyon.

A Provence Wedding Inspiration

I have a deep love story with Provence. I love the golden light down there and the way it perfectly interacts with film, especially in the greens and yellows. Charlotte & Gianmarco seem directly fallen from haven. I love how they evolve in that lavender and olive grove landscape.

This wedding inspiration was realized last September in Provence, with a great team of vendors, and remains one of my favorite session.

Rime

Rime Arodaky is a major actress of the French wedding environment. She started as a wedding fashion designer 3 years ago, and her creations are now worn by all the chic, modern and rock&roll brides. But this is not what this is about. When Rime asked me if I could realize a portrait session for her, in her home, I instantly accepted.

What really stroke me during this session is how natural it went. Nobody needed to force itself and I just captured natural portraits, full of delicacy and softness.
